The Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard is a travel rewards credit card issued by Barclays Bank (NYSE:BCS) Delaware for US residents who have excellent credit. There are 2 versions of this card – one with no annual fee and one with an $89 annual fee (waived the first year). Both cards are MasterCard (NYSE:MA), and rewards you with miles for all your purchases. You may be wondering which card would be a better choice for you, so I’m going to save you time by comparing both cards here in this review so that you’ll have a better idea before you apply.
What Both Card Versions Have In Common:
Earn unlimited miles. Each time you make a purchase with your card, you earn miles, and there is no cap to the amount of miles you can earn with your card.
Earn 10% of your miles when you redeem them for travel statement credits. This means that if you redeem, say, 25,000 miles for any travel purchases (including airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, etc), you will receive 2,500 miles 1-2 weeks after your redemption has been processed.
Miles can be redeemed toward statement credit, gift cards and merchandise. When redeeming miles for statement credit, they can be used to pay all or a portion of airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises and more travel purchases within the last 90 days.
Access your FICO® score online for free. All Arrival cardmembers can view their FICO score 24/7 from their online account. This is a great benefit, as you can track and improve your credit score online, anytime.
No foreign transaction fee. This is ideal if you travel overseas often and make purchases in foreign currencies. A money saving benefit since many other credit cards charge a 3-5% foreign transaction fee when you use your card to pay in non-US currency.
Now I will run you through the main differences between these two cards.
Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard – Earn 1x on All Purchases (no annual fee):
Earn up to 20,000 miles. You will receive 20,000 miles when spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days. This is worth $200 off your next travel purchase.
Earn 2 miles for each dollar you spend on dining and travel. Travel purchases include cruises, airfare, car rentals through agencies, hotels and motels and more. Dining purchases include fast food and restaurant purchases. This is a very good deal for a no-fee card since many other cards only give you 1 mile per dollar spent. This 2-mile benefit is also similar to the one found in the popular Chase Sapphire card (read our review of Chase Sapphire), a no-fee travel rewards card by JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) which gives you 2 miles for each dollar spent on dining out and on booking air tickets and hotel stays through Ultimate Rewards (Chase’s online rewards site).
Earn 1 mile on all your other purchases. Every dollar you spend on your card will reward you with 1 mile, so the more you spend, the more you earn.
Enjoy 0% intro APR on purchases for the first 12 months. After that, you will have a variable APR of 14.99% or 18.99% depending on your credit worthiness.

No blackout dates or seat restrictions when using your card to book through any hotel, airline or discount travel engine.

After the first year, you’ll have to pay an annual fee of $89. Is the annual fee of $89 worth it? You will have to spend at least $4,500 a year on your card just to cancel out this annual fee, which means that any spending above $4,500 will be your true reward.
