Thanks for the insights.
Just wanted to know what your opinion on this: I was approved for the TE card a week ago, that I didn’t intend to apply but ended up with when I renewed my membership with costco. I thought of re-building my relationship with amex when my account with them was cancelled 8 yrs ago due to my ignorance as an undergrad student. I’ve been planning and thinking of applying with one of the charge cards after learning all my lessons and improved my credit. However, since I was recently approved with the TE card, what will be my chances of getting approved with a charge card? Should I apply or is there such thing as the basic charge card that I should start with and work my way up to the higher end charge card (and I don’t mind the annual fees at all)? Lastly, how long should I wait to apply for it? TIA

I’ve been a long time Amex Rewards Member. Future potential card holders beware…Amex puts way too many “possible fraudulent holds” on the card. They put a hold on the card for a $20 charge. The agent told me they would hold it for a $1 charge if they suspected fraud. Please note, each and every time my card was flagged, there have been no fradulent charges. They ask you ridiculous questions such as where I went to school, what is the height on my driver’s license. I didn’t even know credit card companies could get this information. They ask at least 3 questions in addition to these to inquire if I am who I am. This XMAS season, it happened four times. Amex has exhausted me to the last point, I used this site and applied for a Chase Sapphire card. It seems to have better benefits than the Amex and it is a cheaper membership. Other than this, I did enjoy being an Amex customer for over 12 years. Hopefully Chase Sapphire is not as strict with the holds put on the card for possible fraud use.

I recently received a Gold Amex Biz card from my employer. Can anyone tell me what rewards or benefits I can claim or because its a company card does my employer receive all the benefits?

Currently we have a southwest credit card because most of the places we travel to are on their route. However now that we are retired, we want to travel to other places and possibly Europe. Please advise on which cards you would recommend and why. Thank you,
