Al Gore: The Inconvenient Truth Is That You Are A Hypocrite

After parading around the world, winning both a Noble Peace Prize and an Oscar and stuffing his coffers with more than $100 million preaching about what we all need to do in the fight against global warming, it turns out that Al Gore is unable to practice what he preaches. In a scathing report from the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, it turns out that the former VP’s appetite for electricity is like Tiger ’s hunger for winning golf tournaments. According to the report: ” Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration. ”
He spends more in electric bills than the median per capita income is in almost every country in the world. How can Gore run around the globe, scaring people about the end of civilization and then increase his own energy use by 10%? He uses 1.5x more energy per month, than the average US household uses in a year! If someone has the nerve to question his global warming premise, he smugly answers that ” there are those who still believe that the earth is flat.” Always be afraid of those that are smug.
The report adds: “After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.”
While the rest of us are told that we must conserve, these rules don’t seem to apply to the ‘Messenger’. This is by definition a hypocrite. Maybe Al Gore is a follower of Samuel Johnson. According to Johnson,” No man is a hypocrite in his pleasures.”
Don’t forget to leave the lights on!
