Good article on credit cards. The card i get will be paid off each month and there will be no transfer.Everything I use my debit card for now will be on the new card like grocery and gas. After reading the reviews it looks like the American Express Blue Cash Everyday would be the best.

You did not review the American Express Blue Cash Preferred card. What do you think of this card. Even with the $75 annual fee you would come out ahead using this card. At $5200/year for food you come out ahead over the Blue Cash Everyday card. What is your opinion.

The only downside to AMEX is that it is not as widely accepted as Visa or Mastercard – or even Discover for that matter.

I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Annual fee after 1 year is $85.00. Trying to save points for travel, but I thinking of getting a Marriott Card with 50,000 points for opening the card. Any thoughts or differnces between the 2 cards?
Thanks.

People have this misconception that Discover isn’t accepted by merchants everywhere. In fact, here in the US, acceptance is virtually the same as Visa and MC and far better than Amex. I charge everything, including monthly utilities, to my Discover card. I charge over $70,000 annually and only found 3-5 merchants last year that hadn’t included Discover as a form of payment! With no annual fee (why would you ever pay an annual fee?), the best cashback program out there, and their “zip” contactless payment option, I recommend it to everyone. It’s my first choice for every payment!

yeah, it is indeed important not to drastically close any open credit accounts when trying to improve credit score. i had not thought about that before.

I find it hard to believe the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from Amex doesn’t make this list. If readers look at what 25k Starpoints gets you, it would top this list easily. Especially w/ the ability to transfer to airline miles.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention either the sapphire preferred card, with its access to Ultimate Rewards + No foreign transaction fees, reward bonus of 20% when redeeming for travel + how flexible they are to other frequent flyer programs, o yeah and of course the sign on bonus of 50k UR’s($500 or $600 in travel rewards) just for spending 3000 in 3 months! Orrrr the slate card with up to 18mo 0%APR on transfers and purchases + it comes with blueprint to help you pay back the balance in a more timely fashion or continue use of the card while paying back for the other purchase/xfer etc

this was such a help!! my husband and i have been planning a vacation to Mexico in August and i was getting bogged down with Travel Reward cards and just didn’t like feeling obligated to any one airline so i appreciated being reminded of just a cash back rewards card! now we’ll each be getting $100 after booking our airline tickets and the 5% quarterly rewards and 1% all the time is great! good job with this!
